Above The Italian Woods

There are poems whose presence never truly leaves us, rhymes whispered by loved ones, the voices of distant generations, who, having taken their journey before us, wait patiently for our return.
Above The Italian Woods is one such poem.

Cariad poolYou have always forbid me tell of how we met. I often wonder why: It is a good story, a story worth the telling, but it is not just our story; it belongs to those who shared their lives with us. Their story is also worth the telling, even if it tumbles like the stream through the woods, cascading towards the horrors that brought our summer to an end.

Above the Italian Woods is, for the most part, a quiet story; it is a 'One Summer', 'Coming of Age', 'Love Story', but the real story is found in the lives of those who shared their love with us; including the horrors Old Gwennie brought to us.
